Bike Locks

Every cyclists needs to invest in locks for bikes because they will not want to see their precious two wheeled mode of transport whisked away overnight or when it is left unattended during the day. There are a number of different types of bicycle locks to consider, ranging from the affordable to the expensive and offering different levels of protection for your cycle. Combination bike locks are popular because they are easy to use and do not require you to keep an extra key with you to access your cycle. You simply need to remember the three or four digits of the combination and spin the tumblers to unlock your bike in a few seconds. Locks with combinations can allow the user to define their own selection of numbers, with this feature costing only a little more than the most basic cable bike locking mechanisms.

Some bicycle locks are made of flexible materials, such as chains or cables, allowing you to intertwine them through the wheels or tether your bike to posts or racks of varying sizes. Others are rigid and made of metal which means they have a far more specific range of places where they can be used but can improve the security of your bike. In certain cases a security device for your bike will consist of the cabling alone and require that you invest in a padlock of your own choosing, sold separately. This will let you pick between key or combination access methods, adding to the convenience of the process.
