Groupsets

Cyclists who get a lot of use out of their bikes often find that individual parts need replacing, some sooner than others. For mechanical parts such as those helping with the braking, gears and the chain, it is possible to buy groupsets. These are available for all forms of cycling, whether road or mountain bikes.

Road bike groupsets are available from manufacturers to suit different budgets and use. This is for professionals at the top of their sport to those competing for the first time, or even those enjoying leisurely journeys with their family. A whole combination of individual components are available to make the ideal road bike groupsets.

With mountain bike groupsets some collections have been created to assist with a specific purpose, such as track cycling or travelling downhill. It is even possible to combine a couple of packages to create the perfect package MTB groupset.

Groupsets are often placed together depending upon the gear speed required. The performance of the bike can be drastically improved by purchasing a brand new groupset of an entire gear and braking system. Groupsets often work out cheaper than purchasing each part separately. There is also the added advantage that replacing a whole system at once reduces the risk of some parts wearing out before others. A groupset has been designed to ensure that all the components fit and work together smoothly, which may not be quite the same if purchasing individual components.
