Ex Demo Bikes
Ex demo mountain bikes and ex demo road bikes are often a cheaper option for the cyclist who is looking at upgrading their machine but does not necessarily have the resources for brand new, top range equipment. Manufacturers and retailers often look to clear such stock two or three times a year and the keen-eyed enthusiast can land a real bargain.
Ex demo simply means that the machine has been used for demonstration purposes in a store. There will therefore be some wear and tear on the bike which means that it is not necessarily in absolutely pristine condition, although any reduction in actual performance is likely to be minimal or non-existent.
The bikes will have been moved around and have been typically used for photographs or for sales events. Although this leads to some cosmetic damage, they often have the advantage of having been properly maintained and looked after by a specialist mechanic to keep them in perfect working order.
As such, getting hold of a top brand bike can often cost a cyclist from ten to 30 per cent less than they could expect to pay for a non-demo model of the same brand and standard. This can represent a significant saving on some high-quality machines which might otherwise be just out of reach.
Most of the top brands for both road bikes and mountain bikes, such as Scott and Orbea, are available as ex demo bikes UK wide, though it may take a little more time to shop around for exactly what is required.
