Tights

Bicycle tights are one of those essential items if you are serious about cycling in more extreme weather conditions. The best mountain bike tights for cold weather riding are those with extra moisture wicking solutions which will absorb perspiration and get it away from the body quickly. Brushed cotton liners are also incredibly effective at maintaining body heat and have the added advantage of easing muscle fatigue by keeping pressure on the thigh muscles which is all important during long bouts of endurance riding.

Cycle tights come in many different styles and much of it is up to the individual rider's preferences as to what makes the best style to wear. Some cyclists prefer to wear bibbed tights which stop the tights from slipping down at the back and ensure maximum coverage for the duration of the ride. Some styles feature stirrups at the bottom to prevent the tights from creeping up the legs and some have zippers at the ankles to allow greater ease in getting them on and off – especially while still wearing shoes. Many tights feature a padded chamois to protect the more "sensitive" areas, although some riders prefer to wear their chamois in a pair of cycling shorts instead. There are pros and cons to each, but wearing separate shorts makes to a simpler task to wash your chamois after each ride which is essential to maintain hygiene and prevent infection.

With so many bicycle tights on the market it is easy to find a pair which will have all the features necessary to suit your preferences and get the maximum benefits out of all your winter / extreme riding.
