Heart Rate Monitors
Triathlon heart rate monitors are designed for serious cyclists who want to get in depth data relating to their performance when out on the road, whether training or competing in triathlon events. A triathlon HRM can be a basic wrist-mounted device which keeps track of a number of features, or its functionality can be found integrated into a device which carries out many other jobs simultaneously.
Garmin produces several different triathlon HRM gadgets and it has options which suit the physiology of people of different genders so that you can be sure of receiving accurate readings. At the most basic end of the market you can get a heart rate monitor for triathlon conditions which lets you store up information about your pulse, distance travelled, speed on the road, time taken and calories burned. This can then be wirelessly transferred to your PC so that you can keep track of your performance over time, see how you have improved and motivate yourself to keep on trucking.
If you have a little more money to spend and want to get your heart rate monitor in conjunction with another cycling gadget then some GPS systems will come with the necessary technology to make this possible. This means you can plot a route and follow a predetermined path while still enjoying the benefits of monitoring your heart rate. Such devices will need to be mounted on the handlebars of your triathlon bike because they cannot be realistically worn on the wrist, which is something to consider.
