Wetsuits

There are many different types of wetsuits for ladies, each with their own qualities and properties and each appropriate for different conditions and seasons. Womens winter wetsuits are generally thicker at about 8mm and therefore more insulating. These suits tend to be full length in both arms and legs and can be paired with neoprene socks and gloves for added comfort in colder water.

Ladies summer wetsuits, generally known as 'shorties', are usually thinner at around 3mm thick and have half-length legs and arms. These are great for warmer climates and swimming, surfing or diving in exotic locations. Womens summer wetsuits for the UK are more likely to be full-length in both arms and legs but stand at about 5mm thickness. This is not simply because there is less sun in the UK, but because the water temperature averages 8 to 10 degrees centigrade over the year.

Having your own wetsuit means it will fit much better, with ladies winter wetsuits designed to fit a specific, rather than generic shape. With a well fitted suit you can improve the comfort and flexibility of your swimwear with limb and body length working with body shape to enhance movement.
