Tri Bikes

Triathlon bikes (Tri Bikes) are specialist bikes that are designed for speed. Tri Bikes have a specialist padded saddle, aero bars with bar end shifters, specialist wheels and an aerodynamic frame. The frame of a Triathlon Bike has a slightly different frame geometry to a TT Bike.

There has been much research and development into the manufacture of ladies time trial bikes. As the name suggests a TT bike is a road bike that is designed to compete on roads in a race against the clock. New technology and materials have been developed to make the bikes faster and more aerodynamic. Not only the frame design, but the wheel and the aero bars have been the focus of research to make the bikes lighter, stronger and most importantly faster. Research into the design of the pedals as well as the overall design has taken place, to ensure that the racer is seated correctly so as to realise optimal energy efficiency during races.

Manufacturers of womens tri bikes, such as Scott, Orbea and Ridley have recognised the importance of balance and weight for the modern day woman racer. The manufacturers of womens TT bikes are aware that the cyclists are striving to beat their personal best time; therefore the design of the bike is an important consideration. The correct choice of bike can save time and energy during a race and the cyclists often have their bike made especially for them by the manufacturer. The manufacturers recognise that women need to have a bike designed differently to a bike designed for a man.
